The Wedding Cake

The wedding cake has so many traditions associated with it, notably the cake was made to bring good luck to the couple and their guests. The bottom tier was traditionally used to serve to the wedding guests (so this is the tier you cut on the wedding day), the middle tier was used for distributing after the event and the top tier was saved for the first child’s christening.  I will always take photos of the cake before it is cut and like the first kiss it is tradition to have photos of you cutting it. I advise my couples to cut the bottom tier as it is the most stable.
